Woodlock House

Woodlock House is a historic mansion located in the town of Portlaw (near Waterford City), Ireland. Woodlock was built in 1865 and served as the private home of Frederick Malcolmson. Frederick's father David was a local pioneering industrialist and sucessfull cotton-mill magnate.

Ownership of Woodlock House passed to the Sisters of St. Joseph of Cluny in 1909 in accordance with the owner's last will and testament. The home was converted into St. Joseph's Convent and nursing home, open to the public for Mass on weekdays and Sundays for the next one-hundred years.

Mounting ownership and maintenance costs eventually overwhelmed the congregation and they sold Woodlock House to a private owner in 2011. The property had fallen into a state of disrepair, and a full historic restoration was included in the terms of the sale.

The restoration work took four years to complete. Woodlock House was reborn and would go on to serve as an inspirational office space for a local Waterford company.
